School Started... :(

Well, today officially, school started for me. One of my classes requires that I volunteer doing something teacher related.. yay me! Something else to do besides working in the classroom 10hrs a week, homework and anything i need to do. At least its only 10hrs. So hopefully that wont be too bad. One of my professors is not providing a course schedule. Which really bugs me. I mean how am I supposed to plan time to do homework for that class if I don't even know what the assignments are or when they are due? I don't mind if they don't tell me the instructions for the projects right now, I would just like to know if I have to write 5 papers in one week, that i have to do so... Is that too much to ask? This is the 2nd time I have had a teacher who doesn't believe in schedules. :(

Anyway, on a nicer note. Over the weekend I got the apartment clean. So that is very nice. :) At least my apartment is clean, even though my classes are a little confusing right now.

I think I finally have everything organized in my school notebook.

I print all the syllabuses and schedules and put them all in a notebook and also I print a calender of the semester and then take the schedules and put every assignment for every class on it. This way I can tell which weeks have more work in comparison to

others.

The last two semesters this worked great. :) So I plan on continuing it.

School

Well, classes start tomorrow... So I will begin being busy. I finally got placement at a school 15min away from here. I will be working with an special education teacher. I have to get in 100hrs so this is going to be fun. I will have lots of homework as well. I really don't know how much... but I am pretty sure I will have to create 15 lesson plans as well as do many other assignment. :/ So, I'm going to be busy which may mean less blog posts... I'm not sure though... I might blog to avoid homework. lol!!!
Anyway, I guess thats all I am going to write....

Cooking :)

Tonight for dinner I made chicken and rice covered in Italian dressing, garlic cheddar biscuits and broccoli melody, lots of broccoli melody. It turned out pretty good I have a before and after picture of the chicken and rice. The only thing I would have changed is when I put the Italian dressing on the chicken. I think I should have waited till it was almost done then added it. Oh well too late now. LOL! It turned out really good anyway. Earlier this week, for the first time, I made chicken Parmesan. It came out really good as well. I will be adding pictures of that meal on here too.

Reading the Bible :D John 5

So I have been reading through the book of John and today I am on chapter 5.

John 5 (ESV)

The Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath
1After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic[a] called Bethesda,[b] which has five roofed colonnades. 3In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed.[c] 5One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be healed?" 7The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me." 8Jesus said to him, "Get up, take up your bed, and walk." 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.

Now that day was the Sabbath. 10So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed." 11But he answered them, "The man who healed me, that man said to me, 'Take up your bed, and walk.'" 12They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take up your bed and walk'?" 13Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you." 15The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. 17But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working."
Jesus Is Equal with God
18This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
The Authority of the Son
19So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father[d] does, that the Son does likewise. 20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. 21For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 25"Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
Witnesses to Jesus
30 "I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not deemed true. 32There is another who bears witness about me, and I know that the testimony that he bears about me is true. 33 You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34Not that the testimony that I receive is from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. 37And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, 38and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. 41 I do not receive glory from people. 42But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. 43I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? 45Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. 47But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?"

My meditation:
The Jews in this passage were angry because the man was picking up his mat and obeying Jesus, they then became angry because Jesus worked on the sabbath.  Jesus goes on to point out to them that they would not believe his words because they themselves did not abide nor believe the words of God written by Moses. He also tells them that eternal life is not found by searching the scriptures but through him Jesus Christ."(39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.") They read the scriptures, but did not abide in them(38and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.). They knew the scriptures, but did not believe that Jesus was the messiah. They were "ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.(Isaiah 6:9)"

I feel like there are some people who call themselves Christians who are just like these Jews. They have read the scripture and even search it. Yet they do not come to Jesus and have a relationship with him and therefore cannot receive eternal life. They know what the scriptures say, some can even quote whole books, but do not understand...

The one thing that caught me was that the Jews did not abide in God's words.(38and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.) God has told us to abide in his word. To hide His word in our hearts and  to keep them in our minds. ("Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.Deut 11:1") To mediate on his scriptures daily. To think about His words constantly. (But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:2) This can be something hard to do.

An idea I have had, but havent done yet is to take 3x5 cards and write scriputres about a particulair thing and put them around the house where I will see them every day. I hope to do that sometime before the week is over. This way I have reminders to meditate on His word. Anyway, this may be a good idea for you to do as well.

Do you have any ideas of things that would help you or others to remember to meditate on God's word or things that you already do to help remind you?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1.      Using what's in your frig right now, what sort of meal would you be able to make for guests who are standing on your front porch this very minute?
I could make either quesadillas or baked chicken depending on what people wanted. As well as serve lemonade, mountain dew or diet wild cherry pepsi.

2.      What is something about yourself that you hope will change but that you know probably never will?
I tend to be kind of messy.

3.      What is something about yourself you hope never changes?
That I care deeply about others.

4.      Do you usually send serious or funny greeting cards? Why?
It depends, but I like funny ones the best.  I send either serious or funny depending on the person and card. If it’s a birthday card, it just depends on the person.

5. Bird watching, shell gathering, star gazing-your choice for whiling away the hours?
Star gazing! I love to lay in the grass and look at the stars.

5.      Do you double or triple check things? If so, what?
The front door. I check about 3 times every night and periodically during the day that it is locked.

6.      What's your favorite place for people watching?
The Spanish mall. It is very interesting because when I am in there I am the only “white” person in the entire building.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I recently found a great sparkling water called Cascade Ice. They are fruit flavored and actually have real juice in them.Plus they are sugar free. :D I especially love cranberry pomegranate. It only cost around $0.79 and it’s amazing!!!!!! :D

School and More

So today, I am thinking about school starting. On Monday I begin my 5 classes; EEX4772 personal/soc/skills, EEX4833 field experience, RED3310 lit instr intermed, SCE4310 teaching sci/elem sc and TSL4081 tchg eng to esol stu. It is going to be a crazy semester. I have to be in the classroom for 100hrs this semester over the course of 10 weeks. So that is going to be interesting. My classes are going to keep me very busy this semester. I am going to experience something new, being a wife as well as going to school. This whole summer we have had with each other. I have had nothing to do but work out, which I work around his work schedule. However, when I begin field experience and have to be in the classrooms, that will not be able to be worked around his schedule, It will just have to happen when it happens… lol!

I am excited yet scared about beginning this semester. I don’t know what to expect which scares me. But God is in control of everything! He will take care of me!!!

I went to the doctor today due to my constant headaches. He believes they are due to allergies. He told me to take an allergy medication every night before bed (this is because I usually wake up with the headache) and he also gave me a pain killer. It’s interesting going to doctor dressed in ABUs (AKA camouflage). To me it’s kind of weird… but I guess I’ll get used to it being an air force wife. Lol! But still, I’m used to doctors wearing either scrubs or a doctor’s coat or even dress pants and a collared shirt. Oh well!!!!

Well, there’s the update on what’s going on in my life. I’m going to go to sleep now. Its midnight here.
Good night world!!

Hear it on Sunday, Use it on Monday: Consuming Fire

Yesterday in Sunday school we learned about and practiced meditating on Gods word. We are currently going through the psalms and this week we looked at Psalm 100.

Psalm 100 English Standard Version (ESV)
His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
A Psalm for giving thanks.
1 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
2 Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing! 3Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;[a]
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
   and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
 5 For the LORD is good;
   his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Meditation according to the dictionary-continued or extended thought; reflection; contemplation.

Meditation on scripture- thinking about what the scripture is teaching about God, His creation and you.

In sunday school psalm 100 was split up by verse and given to each table to meditate on. Then after a few min our pastor asked each table to share what they had meditated about the Lord. Our table had verse 3. We meditated on the first phrase "Know that the LORD, He is God" (Psalm 100:3). We reflected on who God is and listed different things that God is.This caused me to begin to mediate on who God is and to find scripture relating to who God is.

For example, I have been meditating on the fact that "our God is a Consuming Fire" (Hebrew 12:29). So I began to look at what it means that "our God is a Consuming Fire."

Here is what I have so far:
1. He consumes everything. I want him to consume me and to burn away everything that is not of Him.  Isaiah 33:14 "The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless: "Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?""

Zechariah 13:9 "And I will put this third into the fire,
and refine them as one refines silver,
and test them as gold is tested.
They will call upon my name,
and I will answer them.
I will say, ‘They are my people’;
and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”"

2. He is a jealous God who will destroy his enemies with his consuming fire. Deuteronomy 4:24 "For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God." Psalm 97:3 "Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side."

3. He is worthy of reverence, awe and worship because He is a Consuming fire.  Hebrew 12:28-29
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire."

The lilies opened from my beautiful flowers. I got some better pictures with my real camera vs. the cell phone so here they are. :D
