Field Experience Week 2&3

Last week in field experience I got to give a reading inventory test. That was really cool! I also got to pretty much direct the whole class in math. :) The teacher over me also let me look at another test they use to test SPED students. That was interesting to look at and learn about.  She has taught me so much in only 3 weeks. :)
Field experience today was fun. When the reading class breaks up into small groups, I get to help students when they have questions and even, instruct them on what to do. This I like a lot because I am not just sitting in the room doing nothing. I love the children in reading...  They are all so funny in some ways, and sometimes a little crazy. The reading class has students in 6th-8th grade. It is an accelerated reading class. The goal is to get the students up to their  grade level of reading at a fast pace. Some of the students in the class only read at a second grade level and like I said these are students in 6th-8th grade.

I also got to help 5th grade students with their math tests (help meaning read directions or if needed give them a similar problem and help them work through it giving them a little review). One of the other teachers came and got me to watch her students while she went to the bathroom. They were so funny. I was telling them what to do and they were kind of freaking out because they didn't know who I was. LOL! It made me laugh! In 4th grade, I got to work with a small group doing math. They asked me to help them on whatever problems they couldn't figure out, and I assisted them using the white board and we would work though the problems together.

So far, I really enjoy field experience! I dont like it that I have to get 100hrs in, but that's ok. It gives me more time to spend with students. By student teaching (Fall 2012) I will have accumulated 195hrs of field experience in total. That's a lot!  LOL!
FL Is now requiring 245hrs.... But I am one of the lucky ones who already took field experience 1 before they changed the rules. LOL! Yay me! I get out of it. :D

Anyway, thats all I had to say today. :)

Hear it on Sunday, Use it on Monday. 9/19/11

This Sunday in Sunday school meditated on Psalm 145.

Psalm 145 ESV
Great Is the LORD
[a] A Song of Praise. Of David.
1 I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
2Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised,
   and his greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
5On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
6They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
7They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
8The LORD is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9The LORD is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.
10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD,
and all your saints shall bless you!
11They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
   and tell of your power,
12to make known to the children of man your[b] mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

[The LORD is faithful in all his words
and kind in all his works.][c]
14The LORD upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
15The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
16You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.
18The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.
20The LORD preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
21My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

The verse that stood out to me, and that I have been mediating on is Psalm 145:8:
The LORD is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

Something that Pastor Ray had us do with this verse was to put it into our own words. This is my version of this verse:
The lord is giving and doesn’t punish me as I deserve, He is full of Love and not anger (he is patient).

God really is gracious and merciful, he sent his one and only son to die for me, so that I might not have to be punished as I deserve, for I am a sinner. He is full of love; one of the ways that he shows it is by sending his son to die on the cross for me. He is slow to anger, He could have just punished us all, but instead, he sent his son Jesus. Everything he is points to Jesus and Love.

Sometimes it is easy to forget what Jesus has done for me. I get used to life and the rut of things…  and forget all that Jesus has done for me. So don’t be like me, take time right now to reflect and meditate on all that Jesus/God has done in your life.

Tag! You're it!

I was tagged by my friend Melissa at http://lifeofahoneybee.blogspot.com/

Here are the rules:

When someone is tagged they are invited to tell 10 random things about themselves and then tag five other people. Enjoy learning some new things about your fellow bloggers!

My Random Things About me:
1. Hate wearing socks… They make my feet sweaty! Even during the winter, I either let my feet freeze or wear my monkey slippers. If it is way too cold I will wear socks, but I prefer not to.

2. I really don’t like wearing shoes. I try to get away without wearing shoes. I actually burnt my feet this year walking outside here in AZ without shoes. The bottom of my feet hurt for 3days. :-(

3. I really really really like Cheerios. Don’t ask me why, but I love them. I will eat them plain, or put honey on them or splenda and cinnamon. I just really like them.

4. I do my best never to open my text books for my college classes. A lot of times I can go the whole semester with only reading one chapter. Don’t ask me how I can do that and still make As but I can.

5. My favorite meal is fettuccine alfredo from olive garden. Yes, specifically from olive garden because they make it the best! (Actually there is one other place I like it at, which is in TN but I cannot remember the name).

6. Children make me happy, every time I see one; I want to spend time with them. I love working with children. I really miss babysitting! I miss Sydney and Vann!

7. I didn’t ride a roller coaster until I was 13. My first two roller coasters were The Rockin Roller Coaster at Disney World and Montu at Busch Gardens.

8. I haven’t folded or put away clothes in over 2 weeks, so there is a giant mound of clean clothes in our bedroom.

9. I cannot stand fake Cheetos, Goldfish nor Cheese its. The generic brands just taste weird and icky…

10. I only have two semesters left in college. I graduate Dec 2012. :) I take my certification exams in January when I go home to FL.

This Week's Randomness 9/16/11

So whats up with me this week?
This week I had my 2nd week of field experience. That was great! The teacher I work with lets me do so much! I love it! Right now I am kind of sore because of Zumba. I really enjoy going to Zumba, it gets me out of the house and lets me spend time with people (and not just my pets). We h ave started going to a bible study at our church that is close to us. It is kind of like home group or small groups. We meet in someones house, sing and learn about God. I like it a lot (it gets me out of the house too). I am really beginning to hate being in the house. I want to have a friend that I can meet (out of the house) and go out for coffee or go to the movies or the library or anything really as long as I am not in the house. I am going to start studying for my certification exams that I take when we go to FL in January. We will be in FL January 9th-21st. I cannot wait to go home and see all our family and friends again; I miss them all so much!

Pets
Midnight's knee is swollen and has to have xrays. They are going to cost around $200 after the vet visit and xrays. Plus we need to get him the anti inflammatory medication. :( Cocoa is being her normal crazy self.

Mikel:
Well, we finally found out what is wrong with Mikel's back. :( He has 2 cysts under his S1 vertebrae. He has an appointment next week for an MRI and an appointment with the neurologist. After the MRI he has to make an appointment with the neurosurgeon. This really scares me because that really sounds like surgery... :( and with it being in his back there are a lot of risks, but if it makes him not in so much pain that would be good. His pain has gotten worse and worse. :( I am adding a picture of the spine so one can see where the S1 vertebrae are. it is part of the lower back.
Reading:
My parents got me Monster by Frank Peretti for my birthday. I am hoping to begin reading that this next week.

Random Picture:
This is Mikel and I at the football game a few weeks ago. :)

Wednesday Hodgepodge 9/14/11 :)

1.      What do you do at the first sign of a cold? Will you get a flu shot this year?
Hope it’s just allergies… Then make sure I have some mucinex handy… No I will not get the flu shot… Everyone I know who gets them gets sick anyway… LOL!

2.      What advice can you give about how to conquer fear?
Pray, God will give you the strength to conquer your fear.
Perfect Love (The kind that only comes from God) casts out fear.

1 John 4:18

English Standard Version (ESV)
18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

3.      Share two good things about your life right now.
I have an amazing husband!
I have amazing family members and friends! (ok that's 3 I know... )

4.      A hot fall fashion trend in 2011 is a return to sixties style...tunics with pants, shift dresses, pencil skirts, cinched waists, bold prints, high necklines and short lengths to name a few. How does this fashion trend fit with your wardrobe and personal sense of style?
It doesn’t…. Right now I am either wearing jeans(shorts) with a T-shirt or business clothes.

5.      Were you involved in scouting as a kid? How about as an adult?
I have never been involved in scouting but I was in missionettes.

6.      Apple, pear, plum, pumpkin...your favorite fall flavor?
Pumpkin Definitely!! I so want some pumpkin pie! My friend posted on facebook about hot fresh pumpkin pies…. I've been craving them ever since.

7.      What characteristics do you think are essential in a good teacher?
Caring, knowledge, a desire to be a better teacher, a heart for children.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Thinking about the fact that my husband knew the washer machine soap and sodas had spilled all over the ground. He didn’t even take a towel to it or even try to clean it up. Apparently, the box of soda opened on its own and cans of soda came pouring down onto the dryer making the washer soap fall to the ground and spill and 2-3 cans of soda burst…. UGH! It’s a big mess. There is splatter all across the kitchen. :(

Baby

What is it about getting married that makes you want to have a baby? I mean... Its like every time I see someone with a baby it makes me want one of my own. No, I am not planning on having one anytime soon... But i really want one! Mikel and I decided to wait until I graduate and become a certified teacher... This however, doesn't make it any easier to wait. Mikel even told me the other day he would like one soon, but he said he knows we have decided to wait till I graduate. I don't understand why ever since I got married, I really want to be pregnant and have a baby...
Most people I know who are married right now, either just had a baby or are pregnant.... I guess that's a reason why I want one... because every one else has one... But, well... IDK. I know we will have a baby whenever God wants us to and its all in his hands.

This Week's Randomness

These are my gifts from my hubby for my birthday. :)

My birthday was great! Mikel and I slept in, then got up and went out for Chinese. We found and ok place, nothing like Lings in FL, but it wasn't bad... They even had the kind of sushi i like. :) (The last place we tried the only thing I would eat was the teriyaki (sp?) chicken.... and I am not picky everything just tasted bad!)

After that we went to Kmart and I got some awesome shoes!

After going to Kmart we went to the movies. Outside of the movies there was a coffee shop called Tully's. They have the best coffee ever! WAY better than Starbucks! I had a Mocha Bellachino. It was amazing! I have been wanting one every day since. LOL!

After watching the movie The Help (Which was great by the way!) We went to bible study. We ended my birthday at Applebees. I got a free sundae because it was my birthday which Mikel ate almost all of.
My hubby and I at Applebees

Ok, so field experience on thursday was great! I am just now getting the chance to write on here because I have been so busy. I got to do a lot on Thursday including doing a reading inventory test on a student. The teacher I work with is trying to let me do all she can. :) The past couple days I have spent doing my homework which was a lot! But now it is all done and turned in.

Yesterday we got a stray dog. We are trying to find his owner. For now, he has a home with us. We are calling him Brutus. Today the kitty was curious about the water in the tub... I got a picture of him looking at it. A few min after the picture Midnight jumped in the bathtub and jumped right back out all nice and wet lol!

Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of 9/11/2001. :(  Take time to pray for those families who had someone close die and to remember what happened on that day.
